New Delhi: MoS Home G Kishan Reddy today said that the Narendra Modi government is determined to make clear the truth to unveil conspiracy, if any, to trigger riots. He further said that rumours unleashed by a section of political parties, social media and news media added fuel to fire.
Last week, Delhi witnessed violent communal clashes leading to the death of 43 people and leaving over 200 injured.
The minister reiterated that the CAA is not to take away the citizenship of any Indian but to give citizenship to persecuted religious minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
North East Delhi’s Jaffrabad, Maujpur, Yamuna Vihar, Chand Bagh, Mustafabad and Bhajanpura were among the areas worst hit by the communal violence.
‘Criminals of anti-Hindu riots in Delhi’
Meanwhile, 13 cases have been registered against the accounts operating from different platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for posting provocative content related to Delhi violence.
BJP Delhi spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga in a tweet today shared the caricatures of people who incited the mob and called them criminals.
Few Bollywood personalities and social media influencers including Swara Bhasker had shared provocative posts during the anti-CAA protests.
FIR against the Gandhis
Earlier, the Delhi High Court issued notices on a plea for the registration of an FIR against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and others on charges of delivering hate speeches.
The Congress termed the PIL as politically motivated and attacked the BJP over inaction on the hate speeches made by party leaders like Kapil Mishra, Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Verma which led to the riots.
The Delhi Police has registered 167 FIRs and 885 people have been arrested or detained in connection with the North East Delhi violence.
Yesterday, the Karnataka Congress accused the BJP of colluding with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi in instigating riots saying that both the parties were hand in glove and playing the hide and seek game to fool people.
